Marguerite "Margie" Klotz Staples was born in 1935 in Washington, DC, and moved to Colonial Beach in 1945. Her musical journey began with piano lessons from Mrs. Vam Lear, the organist at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Although she initially attended the Episcopal Church throughout her childhood, Marguerite transitioned to Round Hill Baptist Church after marrying at the age of 18. Eventually, she found her spiritual home at Colonial Beach Baptist Church, where she immersed herself in music. Margie honed her piano skills under various music directors and, when they departed, assumed the role of the church's solo pianist. Her musical dedication extends to 56 years of choir participation, reflecting a lifetime commitment to worship and the artistic expression of faith within the Colonial Beach Baptist Church community.
